Job description:

The Pharmaceutical Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the daily maintenance, functionality, and regulatory compliance of The Pharmacy Hub's Miami building. This role acts as the on-site handyman, overseeing and performing all necessary repairs, maintenance tasks, and inspections. The Pharmaceutical Facilities Maintenance Technician ensures all appliances, equipment, and building systems are operating safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, and capable of independently managing building upkeep and contractor coordination.

Key responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance

  • Personally perform general facility maintenance tasks, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical work, painting, drywall repair, carpentry, and appliance troubleshooting.

  • Utilize trade skills to address and resolve facility issues in-house whenever possible, minimizing costs and maintaining operational efficiency.

  • Conduct routine walk-throughs and inspections to proactively identify issues across the facility.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete minor repairs in a timely manner.

  • Maintain the physical condition of the building and grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and operational environment.

  • Monitor and manage preventative maintenance schedules for building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical panels, plumbing).

  • Maintain maintenance logs and documentation of all repairs and inspections.

  • Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors only for work beyond the scope of in-house capabilities.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure the facility complies with OSHA, ADA, and local building and fire codes.

  • Maintain up-to-date records of building permits, inspections, and certifications.

  • Coordinate facility readiness for regulatory audits and safety inspections.

Supervision and Property Care

  • Monitor staff adherence to facility rules and safety protocols.

  • Ensure all employees handle building equipment and property with care.

  • Report any misuse of facility property to the appropriate supervisor.

Process Improvement and Operational Efficiency

  • Proactively identify areas for operational improvements in facility usage and upkeep.

  • Track maintenance requests and completion timelines for reporting purposes.

  • Implement new tools or processes to streamline routine building tasks.

Emergency Response and Preparedness

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all facility-related emergencies, including power outages, water leaks, equipment failures, and structural issues.

  • Ensure emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, alarms, and exit signage are routinely inspected and in working order.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive emergency response procedure for various disaster scenarios (e.g., fire, flood, hurricane, utility failure).

  • Coordinate with leadership to integrate facility response plans into the company's broader disaster recovery protocols.

  • Conduct periodic drills and trainings with staff to ensure familiarity with emergency protocols.

  • Maintain updated emergency contact lists and communicate facility-related risks or incidents promptly to executive leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance or related fields.

  • Strong skills in general construction, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.

  • Skilled in diagnosing, repairing, and building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

  • Hands-on experience with pharmaceutical-grade machinery, including mixers, blenders, tablet presses, and HVAC.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of facility issues.

  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and wiring schematics.

  • Knowledgeable in GMP, cleanroom protocols, and facility compliance standards.

  • Familiarity with OSHA and local building regulations.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.

  • Adaptable, solutions-driven, and capable of handling urgent maintenance or custom fabrication needs with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.

  • Valid driver's license required.

Full-time job, 44 hours/week
This is a 100% on-site position based in Miami Gardens (remote or hybrid work is not available).

Expected Work Hours for Facilities Technician/Manager:

  • Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • On-call for emergency support outside of regular hours, including nights and weekends, when critical issues arise.

  • Flexible with schedule to accommodate facility needs, including early start times, late shifts, or weekend work during special projects, installations, or repairs.

  • Available for periodic walkthroughs or check-ins during off-hours to ensure uninterrupted operations.

  • This role requires a dependable presence and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to respond swiftly to ensure all equipment and facility systems remain in optimal working condition.

Pay Range$56,000—$70,000 USD
