Position Summary
The Primary Care Physician (PCP) provides high‑quality, patient‑centered primary care for Empower “U” patients, delivering clinical expertise in Family Medicine and supporting both direct medical care and research initiatives. The PCP ensures accurate documentation, supports continuity of care, and upholds organizational standards for quality, compliance, and service.
Essential Job ResponsibilitiesClinical & Administrative Duties
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with clinical guidelines and FQHC standards.
- Accurately document all patient interactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Enter all charges associated with patient care into the EHR.
- Participate in and refer eligible patients to clinical research trials.
- Collaborate with research staff regarding medical management issues.
- Electronically review and sign off on laboratory results, imaging, and patient data promptly.
- Review and authorize prescription refills and specialist referrals in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to preventive care, health maintenance, and UDS reporting guidelines.
- Maintain appointment productivity standards, ensuring access for same‑day or emergency walk‑ins.
- Provide medical cross‑coverage as required, appropriate to Family Practice scope.
- Comply with policies related to EHR external access and HIPAA standards.
- Complete required patient documents and forms as needed.
- Promote and refer patients to ancillary services (Nutrition, Dental, Behavioral Health, Specialty Care).
- Conduct special projects related to medical or research operations as assigned.
- Provide primary care services in patients' homes or via mobile health units when required.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Complete monthly Medical Quality Assurance (QA) assessments.
- Attend case staffing sessions to discuss procedures, quality improvement, and clinical issues.
- Complete all mandatory training (HIPAA Watchdog, EPIC, etc.).
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow CDC guidelines for hand hygiene.
- Participate in organizational Emergency Code System as assigned.
- Understand and execute responsibilities within the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).
Physical Requirements
This position requires:
- Constant: sitting, phone communication, in‑person communication, hearing and vision acuity, exposure to bloodborne pathogens
- Frequent: walking, standing, exposure to hazardous materials
- Occasional: bending, stretching, reaching, driving
Work is performed in clinical and office settings.

- Participate in organizational development activities as requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
Licenses & Certifications (Required)
- Active State Medical License (Florida)
- DEA Certification
- BLS, ACLS, CPR certifications
