Role and Responsibilities
The Senior Superintendent is a seasoned commercial construction leader with extensive experience overseeing multiple, large-scale, and technically complex projects from inception to completion. This professional ensures excellence in field operations, proactively drives project execution, and upholds the highest safety, quality, and performance standards. The Senior Superintendent is accountable for mentoring field teams, coordinating across project managers and clients, and ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the company’s standards of excellence.
- Leadership & Oversight: Provide strategic field leadership for multiple projects or large, complex sites. Supervise and mentor Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and field staff to ensure consistent delivery across all projects.
- Safety Management: Maintain OSHA 30 qualifications and champion a culture of safety by leading Toolbox Meetings, conducting regular site inspections, and enforcing compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Subcontractors to align schedules, budgets, and scopes of work. Lead efforts to resolve conflicts, prevent delays, and ensure seamless communication among all stakeholders.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee daily field operations and ensure all construction activities adhere to design documents, specifications, and contract requirements. Drive project progress through proactive planning, coordination, and problem-solving.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrate mastery of the Florida Building Code, EPA regulations, and SJRWMD requirements. Provide technical guidance and review to ensure compliance and quality in all construction activities.
- Scheduling & Planning: Develop and maintain project schedules, including long-term milestone tracking and detailed two-week look-ahead plans. Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies to maintain critical path timelines.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce high standards of craftsmanship, documentation, and site organization. Conduct regular quality audits to verify adherence to specifications and performance goals.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Coach and develop emerging leaders within the field organization. Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the team.
- Reporting & Communication: Lead weekly coordination meetings, provide detailed daily reports, and communicate effectively with all levels of project and company leadership.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to company-wide initiatives focused on improving field operations, safety programs, and project delivery systems.
- Other Duties: Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned by senior management to support organizational objectives and long-term growth.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial or civil construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or Superintendent capacity.
- Proven track record managing large-scale or multi-site construction projects successfully through completion.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.
- Deep understanding of construction means and methods, safety compliance, and project management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and construction management software.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods as needed.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
