Reports To: Director of Facilities / Operations Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Laundry Facility Engineer to oversee the maintenance and operation of our large-scale commercial laundry equipment. This role requires a proactive leader with technical expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a team of maintenance staff. The ideal candidate will ensure all equipment operates at peak efficiency through a consistent preventative maintenance schedule and will collaborate closely with other departments to support daily production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Oversee and perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance on commercial laundry equipment (e.g., tunnel washers, dryers, ironers, folders, boilers, conveyors).
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues related to laundry operations.
- Coordinate and schedule repairs with external vendors when necessary.
- Team Management
- Supervise, train, and support maintenance staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards.
- Delegate tasks and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.
- Maintain staff schedules, time records, and performance evaluations.
- Operational Coordination
- Work closely with Production, and other departments to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
- Communicate regularly with leadership to report on maintenance activities and equipment status.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with OSHA, local safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain up-to-date maintenance logs, safety checklists, and inspection reports.
- Inventory & Budgeting
- Manage parts inventory, order replacement parts and supplies as needed.
- Assist in budgeting for maintenance expenses and capital equipment purchases.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience with large commercial/industrial laundry equipment.
- Proven experience managing a maintenance or engineering team.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Basic computer skills (CMMS experience a plus).
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environmental conditions (heat, humidity, noise).
