About the Role:
The Facility Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operational integrity of all physical assets within the organization’s facilities. This role ensures that all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components, are functioning efficiently and safely to support uninterrupted business operations. The manager leads a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive maintenance schedules, emergency repairs, and capital improvement projects to extend the lifespan of facility assets. They collaborate closely with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to manage budgets, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and implement sustainability initiatives. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in creating a safe, comfortable, and productive environment for employees and visitors alike.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility maintenance or management roles.
- Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams and coordinating multiple projects.
- Familiarity with safety regulations such as OSHA and environmental compliance standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP).
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building automation systems (BAS).
- Background in energy management and sustainability initiatives.
- Project management certification or experience.
- Experience working in large-scale commercial or industrial facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans and schedules to ensure all facility systems operate reliably and efficiently.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff to maintain high performance and adherence to safety standards.
- Coordinate and oversee repair work, preventive maintenance, and emergency response activities to minimize downtime.
- Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers, including negotiating contracts and monitoring work quality.
- Monitor facility budgets, track expenses, and prepare reports to support financial planning and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Lead facility improvement projects, including upgrades and renovations, to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventories, and regulatory documentation.
