Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Low Voltage Estimating Manager with an active RCDD certification to lead our estimating team in the design and cost analysis of structured cabling, AV, security, and other low voltage systems. This role is critical to ensuring accurate project bids, maintaining competitive pricing strategies, and supporting our business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the estimating process for all low voltage systems including structured cabling, access control, CCTV, AV, DAS, and fire alarm.
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and RFPs to develop accurate takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to ensure scope alignment and value engineering.
- Prepare detailed bid proposals, budgets, and cost breakdowns for design-build and plan-spec projects.
- Maintain and update estimating tools, historical cost databases, and vendor pricing.
- Review subcontractor and vendor quotes for accuracy and scope compliance.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client presentations as needed.
- Mentor junior estimators and support their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and best practices.
Qualifications
- RCDD Certification (Required)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in low voltage estimating or design
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift)
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination is a plus
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in design-build and negotiated projects
- Understanding of NEC, BICSI, and other relevant standards
- Strong vendor and subcontractor relationships
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- RCDD Certification (required)
