Facility Overview
A large, fully accredited medical-surgical hospital in South Florida is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager RN – Behavioral Health. The facility is a designated Level II Trauma Center and a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, offering comprehensive inpatient and specialty services. The organization is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and maintaining nationally recognized clinical standards.
Position Summary
The Nurse Manager RN – Behavioral Health is responsible for managing the daily operations of a 53-bed inpatient Behavioral Health unit, providing 24/7 departmental oversight. This leadership role focuses on quality outcomes, staff development, fiscal responsibility, productivity, and patient satisfaction in alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities

Manage daily unit operations with 24/7 accountability
-
Plan, prepare, and oversee staff schedules and assignments
-
Provide input on hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions
-
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JCAHO) standards and organizational policies
-
Collaborate with hospital leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
-
Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of approximately 108 FTEs (RNs, Behavioral Health Technicians, Charge Nurses)

Maintain safe staffing levels (RN ratio 1:8)

Provide leadership for adult and geriatric inpatient populations
Qualifications
Required:
-
Active Florida RN license or Compact RN license (per Florida requirements)
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
-
BLS certification (or within 30 days of hire)
-
ACLS certification (or within 30 days of hire)
-
CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification (or within 90 days of hire)
-
Minimum 3 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting
Preferred:
-
3–5 years of inpatient psychiatric clinical experience
-
1–3 years of leadership experience in an acute care setting (e.g., Charge RN, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Coordinator)
