Job Description

Advantage Trailer Company is looking for a parts & service manager that can oversee the daily operations of the service & parts departments, focusing on customer satisfaction, service department profitability, and staff management. Key responsibilities include managing the service desk and technicians, scheduling and workflow, customer relations, parts and service sales, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment, overseeing inventory and budgets, and liaising with manufacturers and suppliers.


Key Responsibilities


Staff Management:

Hire, train, and motivate service technicians and other department staff, ensuring they meet performance standards.


Customer Satisfaction:

Handle customer complaints, ensure high-quality service, and cultivate positive relationships to maintain customer loyalty.


Operations Management:

Oversee the scheduling of service appointments, manage the workflow of repairs, and ensure the smooth operation of the service department. Maintain accurate parts inventory.


Financial Oversight:

Manage the department's annual budget, track spending, and identify opportunities to increase profitability.


Inventory & Parts:

Monitor the inventory of parts and tools, placing orders as needed to maintain efficient daily operations.


Compliance & Safety:

Ensure the service department adheres to all safety regulations, including those from OSHA, and manufacturer-specific policies.


Manufacturer Relations:


Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and their representatives.


Required Skills


Expertise:

A strong understanding of trailer & automotive systems as well as parts, diagnostic procedures, and repair processes.


Leadership:

The ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team of parts & service professionals.


Customer Service:

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with customers and manage their needs.


Organizational Skills:

The ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain detailed records, and organize complex processes.


Business Acumen:

Proficiency in managing finances, tracking budgets, and developing strategies for department profitability.

  • Previous experience in customer service, sales, or other related fields

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate - ability to use multiple software programs, apps and data collection systems
