    RN Job Description

    Job Title: Dialysis Registered Nurse

    Department: Healthcare

    FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

    Job Summary: This position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, monitor patients during dialysis, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement dialysis care plans to enhance and improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Oversee dialysis treatments and assist patients before and after dialysis treatment.
    • Collect blood work from patients for lab tests and administer medicine to patients in dialysis.
    • Provide direct patient care, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans.
    • Monitor and document patient's vital signs and medical history.
    • Educate patients and their families on various health conditions and treatment options.
    • Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, such as phlebotomy and CT scans.
    • Perform airway management and provide emergency care when necessary.
    • Provide ostomy care and support for patients with ostomies.
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and protocols.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent bedside manner and team rapport.
    • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Proficient in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to display mental and emotional stamina in situations dealing with death, multiple patients, family members, etc
    • Demonstrated ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
    • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a care team.

    Experience and Education:

    • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing is required.
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
    • Minimum of 4 years of hemodialysis experience required
    • Current RN license in the state of Florida
    • Current Basic Life Support certification
    • Proficiency in using Epic or similar electronic medical record (EMR) systems
    • Knowledge of mammography procedures preferred

    Physical Requirements:
