Lead mechanic maintenance, repairing, and keeping in consistent working order all golf course equipment involved in the golf course maintenance department as directed.
Report to the Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead the implementation of preventive maintenance programs for all equipment on inventory in the golf maintenance operation.
- As directed, repairs and maintains all golf maintenance equipment.
- Maintain the mechanics work area and company tools in a clean, well-organized, safe and secure manner.
- Assist with maintaining adequate inventory levels of petroleum products, replacement parts, and shop supplies as established by the Golf Course Superintendent.
- Advise supervisor on capital equipment addition or replacement needs.
- Be responsible for all required documentation relating to equipment repairs and purchasing replacement parts as directed.
- Assist in training grounds staff on proper and safe operation of maintenance equipment.
- Responsible for seeing that daily assignments are completed in the respective areas, to meet Club standards and as communicated expectations (ie no trash/debris on course, etc.).
- Assist fellow Employees, Members and guests to ensure delivery of the 3 steps of service without being directed. Be aware of team members and the environment and participate as a member of the team.
- Notify supervisor of Member/Guest complaints.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in golf course mechanics experience or small engine repairs
- High school diploma, GED. Or equivalent, preferred
- Must have technical and working knowledge of all equipment as well as replacement parts, supplies and other resources needed in the repair and upkeep of the equipment.
- Ability to perform outdoor work year-round, with possible extreme temperature variations

Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.
- Adhere to all of the various company, club and department written mandatory standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc., all of which go to make up the essential functions of the job.

- Take initiative to solve problems, utilizing all available resources including regional and corporate staff.
- Responsible for maintaining good conduct and safe working habits while in all areas and assuring others are acting safely.

- Attendance Requirements for this position as outlined on the weekly schedule. Additional hours are required to meet deadlines of the position, including weekends and/or holidays.
- Attendance at daily line-up and participating as requested.
Primary tools/equipment used in this position:
- Construction tools (shovels, axes, sledgehammers, etc.)
- Gardening tools (pruners, rakes, hedge shears, trimmers, etc.)
- Blowers
- Grass Mowers
- Tractors
- Mechanical tools (wrench, drill, screwdriver, etc.)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate and work well with fellow employees and other departments.
Maintain a presentable appearance, behavior and manner at all times. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Bilingual: English & Spanish preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting, standing, walking, driving, exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. on occasion, folding/unfolding, talking, hearing, and seeing.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working outside and inside the resort. The ability to work exposed to heat, sunlight, rain, and cold. I might work daylight or nighttime hours. Working with cleaning equipment and chemicals depending on the task.
