Metra Electronics is searching for results orientated people to join our growing team. Metra is the premier manufacturer of after-market car stereo installation kits, the installers’ choice. Our foundation was built on the design and manufacturing of ABS dash kits for aftermarket radios. Over the years we have expanded into many other industries, like electronic interfaces, home theater, vehicle lighting and safety. We have been providing installation products to installers and distributors for over 75 years with 5 distribution centers nationally. As we continue to flourish, we are seeking results orientated people.
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Forklift Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair forklifts and other material handling equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with internal combustion and electric-powered forklifts, ensuring equipment safety and reliability in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on forklifts (battery, gas, diesel, propane, and electric).
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.
• Replace and/or adjust parts such as tires, brakes, engines, transmissions, and steering systems.
• Keep detailed maintenance and repair records.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, complying with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Collaborate with operations staff to minimize equipment downtime.
• Assist with ordering and managing spare parts.
• Ability to work closely with forklift service contractors.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (technical school certification a plus).
• 2+ years of experience as a forklift or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Good knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
• Valid driver’s license, a plus.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of standing, bending, and working in tight spaces for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in warehouse or outdoor environments.
Other:
• Ability to work overtime in the evenings and on weekends as required.
• Perform other duties as required.
