Job DescriptionSalary: $25 - $35 per hour

Avocet MRO Services has immediate openings at our location in Sanford, Florida for an experienced Composite Technician. Benefits include Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, 401K, and Medical/Dental/Vision/Supplemental insurance.


Summary

The Composite Technician is responsible to the Lead Technician and Production Manager for working with advanced composite materials and structures used in aircraft components. The technician will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, fabricating, and modifying composite parts in accordance with OEM specifications, MRO Standards, and FAA regulations.


Duties

  • Perform structural repairs on aircraft composite components such as nacelles, fairings, flight control surfaces, and radomes
  • Fabricate composite parts using various techniques
  • Conduct inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) on composite parts to identify damage or defects
  • Operate tools and equipment including grinders, sanders, ovens, autoclaves, and hand tools
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, work instructions, and repair schemes
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality control inspectors, and other technicians as part of a high-performing team
  • Performing the work requested on the work order form in accordance with the manufacturer's maintenance manual and the procedures set forth in the Repair Station Manual (RSM)
  • Notifying their respective Manager of any out of the ordinary damage noted during any phase of the maintenance process
  • Ordering the correct parts as noted in the illustrated parts listing of the appropriate manual
  • Correctly documenting all maintenance forms in accordance with the procedures set forth in Chapter 7 of the Repair Station Manual (RSM) as well as the individual instructions for each form found in the Forms Manual
  • Maintaining their respective tools and work area in a clean, orderly manner
  • Using the correct data and ensuring that it is maintained in good condition while in their possession
  • Only performing work in accordance with approved data
  • Accepting ownership for the quality of their work
  • Assisting in the development and training of new Technicians


Requirements

  • Airframe & Powerplant preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with composite materials in an aviation or aerospace setting
  • Familiarity with composite repair manuals, structural repair manuals, and MRO best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Heavy and/or line maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at a professional working proficiency
  • Own tools as required by a company tool list
  • Understand and follow maintenance manuals and IPCs
  • B737, B757, and/or A320 experience preferred
