Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, BSN preferred
Experience / Qualifications
- RN- Current RN licensure in the state of Florida
- American Heart Association BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers
- American Heart ACLS
- American Heart PALS
- Specialty Certification Preferred
- Experience as a Pediatric Nurse in an acute care pediatric perioperative setting preferred.
Position Summary
Within nursing services, the Registered Nurse assumes the accountability and responsibility as a professional nurse for providing “Patient Centered Care” for an assigned group of patients.
- The RN plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care while providing a holistic view, which may include dimensions of physical, developmental, emotional, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and functional status.
- Assessment involves the orderly collection of information to develop a comprehensive Standard of Care to meet identified patient care outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of a nursing plan of care.
- Established nursing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures will be followed in administering nursing care.
- Initial assessments provide a baseline for future comparisons that can be made to individualize care.
- Ongoing assessment and reassessment are required to meet the patient’s changing needs.
- RN ensures accurate documentation, adequate supplies, and is knowledgeable in the operation of equipment.
- The RN has a responsibility to act as an educator to their peers, patients, and their families. All aspects of the RN performance support service excellence and a healing environment.
- Responsible for admission history, including spiritual needs, cultural, developmental, educational/learning needs & psychosocial needs. Consideration of family is strongly emphasized.
- Demonstrates ability to function in the peri-anesthesia nurse role for surgical procedures.
- Prepares patients for surgical procedures.
- Physiologically monitors patients during procedures/postoperatively as required.
- Demonstrates ability to function in the recovery room nurse role, Phase 1 and Phase 2, for surgical procedures.
- Provides timely, accurate, and complete documentation.
- Provides education and documents on patient/family teachings on surgical procedure (i.e., medications, treatments, pain, discharge, safety, nutrition, wound care, etc.).
- Promotes a safe "error-free" working environment by consistently performing thorough hand-offs and infection prevention measures.
- Assesses all body systems, ensures safe, effective, efficient care delivery with emphasis on the absence of medication errors, avoidance of falls, & reduction of pain.
- Assume an active role in orienting, coaching, and mentoring of new staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
