Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This contract position offers an opportunity to provide specialized education services to visually impaired students within a K-12 setting in Saint Augustine, FL, and nearby Palatka, FL. The role involves traveling primarily to a central charter school and surrounding locations to serve a small caseload of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support to 9 students in grades 3 through 10 with visual impairments
- Conduct and participate in evaluations as needed to adjust educational plans
- Collaborate with educators and families to ensure comprehensive student support
- Provide services primarily on-site at the Childrens Reading Center Charter School and other local facilities
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and services delivered
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Florida Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Educator Certificate required
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
- Ability to travel locally to multiple school sites
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage a caseload independently
Work Details:
- Contract duration: ASAP through May 29, 2026
- Part-time schedule: 2 to 3 days per week, approximately 14 to 25 hours weekly based on evaluation demands
