Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Trusts and Estates Paralegal to support our attorneys in managing all aspects of estate planning and administration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of probate procedures, trust administration, estate tax preparation, and legal documentation. This role requires excellent organizational skills, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:

Draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives

Assist with the administration of estates and trusts, including preparing probate documents, inventories, accountings, and asset transfers

File probate petitions and related documents with the appropriate courts

Coordinate asset valuations and work with financial institutions to marshal assets

Prepare and file estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns (e.g., IRS Forms 706, 709, 1041)

Maintain client files and ensure accurate recordkeeping of deadlines and court filings

Communicate with clients, financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to facilitate estate planning and administration tasks

Conduct legal research related to estate and trust matters

Track and manage estate and trust timelines, including critical dates and court appearances

Assist with trust funding and beneficiary distributions
Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; paralegal certification required

Minimum [3-5] years of experience in trusts and estates law, preferably in a law firm setting

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice software (e.g., Clio, LexisNexis, or equivalent)

Familiarity with tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSystem fx) a plus

Strong knowledge of probate court procedures and relevant state and federal laws

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
