Job Description

Opportunity to join a large General Contractor who have an excellent reputation for building big box retail projects across the United States. Due to continued success, they're in the market for a Superintendent to help drive projects forward and add value to the team.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Project Leadership: Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring alignment with project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Team Coordination: Direct and manage subcontractors, trades, and field personnel to maintain productivity and quality standards.
  • Scheduling & Logistics: Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules, coordinate deliveries, and manage site logistics to avoid delays.
  • Quality Control: Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure compliance with specifications, building codes, and client expectations.
  • Safety Management: Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular site inspections to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues proactively, adapting to changing conditions and minimizing disruptions to the project timeline.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors, providing updates and facilitating collaboration.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and documentation to support project tracking and compliance.
  • Budget Oversight: Assist in managing costs and controlling expenditures to keep the project within financial targets.
  • Inspection & Turnover: Coordinate final inspections, punch lists, and turnover procedures to ensure a smooth hand off to the client.


Experience:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
  • Proven track record managing ground-up big box retail projects (e.g., Walmart, Target, Costco, Home Depot, etc.)

Technical Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and scheduling
  • Familiarity with site development, steel structures, concrete work, and interior build-outs
  • Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project)

Leadership & Communication:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, vendors, and internal teams
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and make decisions under pressure

Certifications & Education:

  • OSHA 30 certification required
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is a plus (but not required)

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel and manage out-of-town projects as needed
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction
