Summary/Objective :Assist physical, occupational therapists as well as licensed assistants in patient care activities under their direct supervision. Exercise Specialist must demonstrate proficiency of the Practice Management and Scheduling System (currently GE/IDX) and of the Electronic Medical Record (currently Epic). Exercise Specialist also provides clerical support to the Patient Access Supervisory Staff and the Site Manager as appropriate and needed. Exercise Specialist monitors and works referral work queue by scheduling initial encounters in a timely fashion. Must be able to interact in an affirmative demeanor to our patients, visitors, and co-workers alike; expected to display a positive and professional image at all times to elicit a favorable lasting impression. Review patient status by referring to chart and direct communication with treating therapist on a daily basis.
Essential Functions
Schedules and cancels appointments accurately following physician, provider, desk, and location protocols. Arrives and schedules appointments. Runs report sets as applicable.
Works the referral work queue as directed.
Facilitate timely scheduling of referrals ensuring that all therapy schedules are filled to capacity daily.
Follows IDX Alert policy prior to scheduling appointment. Follows PFS collection comments
Maintain the physical environment of the Center and ensure a state of readiness to provide patient care
Effectively monitor patient activity and communicate with therapist and patients regarding both concerns and progress.
Maintain all department supplies at proper stock levels and in appropriate locations.
Complete clerical activities/tech checklist as requested, accurately and in a timely fashion.
Requirements:
Required Education and Experience: High school graduate or GED. Current BLS certification or to be completed within three months of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience: 2 years of previous experience as a PT, OT or Rehab Aide is preferred.
