We are looking for a motivated and technical Mid-Level QA Automation Engineer with a passion for quality assurance to join our team. You will be stepping into a high-impact role, working on a critical application that manages a vital workflow for a Department in the DoW U.S Government.

This is a unique "greenfield" opportunity. Our application currently has no automated test framework, and your primary mission will be to change that. You won't just be running tests; you will be the primary driver of our entire automated testing strategy. Working directly with our Senior Software Engineer, you will build our QA practice from the ground up, implementing CI/CD and automation practices using tools like FitNesse, Selenium, Cucumber, etc.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Pioneer the Framework: Design and build a new, scalable, and maintainable automated testing framework for our application.
Integrate with CI/CD: Integrating this new test framework into our CI/CD pipeline (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.) to enable continuous testing and delivery.
Develop & Maintain Tests: Write, implement, and maintain clear, concise, and effective automated test cases that provide maximum test coverage for our business requirements.
Collaborate & Analyze: Work closely with the Developers, and government stakeholders to deeply understand complex requirements and translate them into a comprehensive test strategy.
Architectural Decisions: Contribute in designing the architecture, approach, practices and the tools used to create acceptance tests that are readable by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Champion Quality: Own the bug-tracking process, clearly documenting defects, and working with the development team to ensure resolutions.
Report & Improve: Establish key metrics for test coverage and software quality, reporting on progress and continuously improving the automation process.
Test Driven Development (TDD): Actively partner with the development team to implement and champion TDD practices, ensuring tests are written before new features and functionality are built.

What We Require

Automation Expertise: 2-3 years of strong, hands-on experience in QA automation. You must have experience building automated test frameworks using modern tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Cucumber, TestNG, etc.).
CI/CD & DevOps: Proven experience integrating automated test suites into a CI/CD pipeline. You are comfortable with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar.
Strong Programming/Scripting: Proficiency in at least one relevant language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) to write clean, maintainable code.
Problem-Solver & Self-Starter: You must have the ability to take ownership of a major project, research new tools and solutions, and execute independently in a "greenfield" environment.
Excellent Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts, risks, and strategies to the team.
Eligibility Requirement: Must be a U.S. Citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a public trust clearance (or other required government clearance).

What We'd Love to See (Preferences)

Appian Experience: This is a major plus. Any experience developing on or specifically testing within the Appian platform is highly desirable. Understanding of Appian architecture (SAIL, CDTs, Process Models, Web APIs) will help you hit the ground running.
BDD/Acceptance Testing Tools: Direct, hands-on experience using FitNesse or Cucumber.
Government Experience: Familiarity with public sector or government IT projects and their specific compliance/security requirements.
Broader QA Knowledge: Experience with performance testing, load testing, and security testing concepts.
Appian Certification: Appian Certified Associate Developer or Senior Developer.
