Position Title: Live-In Direct Care Support Staff
Location: Oakland Park, Fl. 33334
Employment Type: Full-Time, Live-In
Job Purpose:
To provide compassionate, individualized care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a residential setting. The live-in staff will ensure a safe, nurturing environment while assisting clients with daily living activities, healthcare needs, and fostering independence during non-program hours.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Direct Personal Care:
- Assist with basic personal hygiene and grooming (e.g., bathing, oral care, toileting).
- Support feeding, ambulation (mobility), and positioning.
- Assist with toileting needs, including use of bedpans, diapers, urinals, and commode chairs.
- Perform healthcare-related tasks (e.g., medical monitoring, vital signs) under proper training.
2. Health & Medication Support:
- Remind and assist clients with self-administration of medications (training provided).
- Document medication administration and report concerns to supervisors.
3. Daily Living & Household Management:
- Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack), including grocery shopping and cleanup.
- Perform light housekeeping (laundry, bed making, cleaning communal areas).
- Encourage and assist clients with self-help activities to promote independence (e.g., dressing, meal prep).
4. Safety & Advocacy:
- Maintain a safe environment and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Report changes in client’s physical/emotional condition, behavior, or family situation to administrators.
5. Engagement & Community Integration:
- Foster positive, trusting relationships through respectful and patient interactions.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or community outings.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities aligned with their interests (e.g., hobbies, games).
6. Documentation & Compliance:
- Document all services provided, including progress notes and incident reports.
- Complete required training (e.g., CPR/First Aid, client-specific protocols).
7. Other Duties:
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to meet client or program needs.
Schedule:
- Weekdays (Mon–Fri):
- Morning: 6:30–8:30 AM (assist with routines before adult day program).
- Evening: 3:45–6:00 PM (support after program ends).
-Overnight just monitoring for safety.
- Weekends (Sat–Sun): Full-day support, including overnight availability.
- Off-Duty: One full day off per week (schedule coordinated with team).
Compensation & Benefits:
- Room & Board: Private bedroom and all meals provided at no cost.

Qualifications:
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (1+ year preferred).
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (for transportation duties).
- Ability to pass background checks and reference verification.
- Compassion, patience, and strong verbal/written communication skills.
Requirements:
- Must reside on-site and be available during scheduled hours.
- Physical ability to assist with mobility (e.g., lifting, transfers).
- Flexibility to adapt to clients’ routines and needs.
