Job Title: Pharmacist
Job Description
This advanced dispensary associated with a large oncology practice in Fort Myers, Florida, serves the oncology practice population specifically. The Pharmacist-In-Charge is a crucial leadership role responsible for managing overall operations, coordinating clinical activities, optimizing pharmacy workflows, and maintaining high standards of medication management and patient care. The role involves extensive management duties, including strategic planning, staff oversight, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and accrediting body standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial patient evaluations and workups regarding disease status and anticipated prescribed therapy.
- Coordinate with physician staff and service providers in planning and implementing patient care plans.
- Establish therapeutic objectives and monitor patients for desired therapeutic outcomes.
- Provide counseling and answer questions from patients and family concerning drug therapy.
- Assist with medication access and dispense medication orders.
- Organize and direct the technician's workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals.
- Properly dispose of hazardous materials or medications when necessary.
- Participate in pharmacy teaching and in-service programs as necessary.
- Develop, maintain, and uphold operating standards with respect to the organization regulatory bodies.
- Lead and supervise a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other support staff.
- Ensure adherence to accreditation standards for pharmacy services.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the pharmacy department in alignment with organizational goals.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's or Pharm.D from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Minimum five years experience as a registered pharmacist.
- At least one to two years of prior supervisory and management experience.
- Valid licenses in specified states.
- Strong knowledge of medication management and pharmacy operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in pharmacy information systems and technology.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Oncology experience preferred.
- Experience with upholding specialty pharmacy accreditation standards from NABP, URAC, ACHC, and NCODA.
Work Environment
This position requires on-site work in Fort Myers, Florida, from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM ET. The work environment involves direct contact with patients and potential exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents. The physical demands include sitting, using hands to handle or feel, occasional standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms, as well as lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Myers, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
