Role Overview
As a IoT Software Engineer at Lit Thinking, you will help evolve our connected IoT software platform that supports real-time control, monitoring, and analytics of the Visium Far-UVC fixtures and sensors. You will work closely with the Chief Product Officer and a small, agile team to refine, enhance, and maintain existing apps and services.

This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to grow their experience in full-stack development, cloud integration, sensor-based control systems, and IoT connectivity in a meaningful and fast-moving industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of web and mobile applications that interface with Lit Thinking’s IoT devices
  • Modify and maintain the existing software stack, including backend APIs, dashboards, and device integration logic
  • Collaborate with the team to implement secure cloud communication between devices, apps, and cloud services (AWS)
  • Assist in testing, debugging, and deploying firmware updates in coordination with hardware engineers
  • Support data collection, monitoring, and logging systems that track device performance and uptime
  • Work in a collaborative Agile environment with clear sprint goals and team accountability
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate new environmental or occupancy sensors into existing Far-UVC devices, enabling smarter, more responsive systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in software development, with some hands-on exposure to IoT or embedded systems
  • Familiarity with full-stack development (frontend and backend)
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform (preferably AWS)
  • Exposure to mobile app development (React Native, Flutter, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs, basic security concepts, and cloud-to-device communication
  • Comfortable using Git and Agile development tools

Bonus Skills (Not required but helpful)

  • Familiarity with embedded firmware development or OTA update processes
  • Experience working with MQTT or other IoT-specific protocols
  • Exposure to visualization tools or dashboards (e.g., Grafana, Quicksight)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines

Additional Notes

  • Must be located in West Palm Beach, FL area and willing to work in the office several days a week
  • This is a full-time, in-person role at our West Palm Beach office
  • You will have direct mentorship from senior technical leadership and exposure to both hardware and software sides of product development
