Job Summary
The Legal Secretary provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys and legal staff. This role involves preparing legal documents, managing case files, scheduling, and ensuring efficient communication within the legal team and with external parties.
Key Responsibilities
· Draft, proofread, and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and correspondence
· Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files
· Schedule meetings, hearings, depositions, and court dates
· File legal documents with courts and administrative agencies (e-filing)
· Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
· Manage attorney calendars and deadlines
· Perform general administrative duties such as answering phones, copying, and data entry
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred)
· 2+ years of experience in a legal administrative role
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
· Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and court systems
Preferred Experience
· Experience in litigation, real estate, or municipal law
· Familiarity with Florida court filing systems and procedures
