Job DescriptionFlorida based established well known insurance company is currently seeking an experienced Liability Paralegal to join their team. This position is full-time and on site at their Coral Gables, Florida office.

Primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to performing a variety of paralegal duties and having a solid understanding of routine legal issues. Assisting attorneys and others in legal insurance defense case preparation and file management for standard matters which may include routine to moderate legal research, conducting investigations, drafting routine documents, and obtaining, reviewing, summarizing, and analyzing all relevant documents, reports, records, and other sources of information.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and schedules CMES.
  • Communicates with clients and expert witnesses.
  • Maintains working knowledge of Florida Circuit Court procedures. Reviews court dockets and retrieves case information.
  • Brings a well-developed sense of organization to coordinate workflow.
  • Has general knowledge of law office operations, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience in filing and scheduling procedures of the various courts, as well as how to use federal and state e-filing and e-Court systems.
  • Exercises independent initiative and judgment in daily tasks.
  • Assists in the preparation, review, filing, and service of pleadings, motions, discovery, and subpoenas.
  • Reviews and prepares documents for document production requests.
  • Analyzes and responds to incoming discovery.
  • Reviews and analyzes medical records.
  • Takes initiative to move case files to trial/resolution. Works autonomously, with low supervision.
  • Returns telephone calls /voicemails in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean email inbox.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Must have 3+ years of paralegal experience, prior experience in insurance defense litigation and/or general liability preferred.
  • Must be task oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, focused, technologically savvy, adaptable to learning new systems and processes, and can prioritize and multitask.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with attorneys, paralegals, court personnel, clients, and claims staff.
  • Strong typing and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced friendly environment.
  • Ability to work in a team & virtual environment.
  • Bilingual (preferred but not required).
