Job DescriptionMUST HAVE AT LEAST 3 years experience

Key responsibilities of a mechanical estimator:
Reviewing project documents:
Carefully analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project proposals to fully understand the scope of mechanical work required.
Quantity takeoff:
Accurately measuring and calculating the quantities of materials needed for the project, including ductwork, piping, equipment, and accessories.
Cost analysis:
Researching and sourcing pricing for materials, labor rates, equipment rentals, and permits from vendors and subcontractors.
Labor estimating:
Determining the estimated labor hours needed to complete the project based on the complexity of the work and crew size.
Cost breakdown:
Preparing detailed cost breakdowns, including material costs, labor costs, overhead expenses, and contingency allowances.
Site visits:
Conducting site surveys to assess existing conditions, access points, and potential challenges that could affect the project cost.
Proposal preparation:
Compiling all cost elements into a comprehensive project estimate, including pricing and payment terms for client review.
Vendor communication:
Maintaining relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials.
Collaboration with design team:
Working with engineers and architects to ensure the mechanical design is feasible and cost-effective.
Risk assessment:
Identifying potential risks or unforeseen issues that could impact project costs and proposing mitigation strategies.
Required skills for a mechanical estimator:
Technical knowledge:
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC principles, and industry standards.
Blueprint reading:
Ability to accurately interpret and measure details from blueprints and construction documents.
Estimating software proficiency:
Familiarity with estimating software to calculate quantities and generate cost breakdowns.
Analytical skills:
Excellent ability to analyze data, identify cost drivers, and make accurate cost projections.
Communication skills:
Clear and concise communication with clients, project managers, and subcontractors to clarify project requirements and address concerns.
Problem-solving skills:
