Job Summary
We are seeking an Administrative Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Administrative Medical Assistant, your role will include, but will not be limited to answering the phones; scheduling appointments; triaging calls; assisting the physician in the management of patients via returning messages and completing tasks that are assigned to you; assisting the physician in both pharmaceutical and medical referrals processing; and verifying insurance prior to appointments and ensuring that the insurance on file is correct and current; assisting, as needed, in the running of in-office labs; tracking the results of outside lab reports; tracking the newborn metabolic screenings for patients born into the practice.

The ideal candidate must enjoy customer service and possess effective skills; enjoy working in a vibrant, engaging, and fast-pace office environment that in family oriented; and be able to apply constructive feedback and guidance from the physician and/or administrator easily and efficiently and have experience working with an electronic health record (EHR); and can work independently in terms of completing tasks in an efficient and timely manner. Previous pediatric office experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for the patient visit, including, but not limited to, verifying insurance; staging the next day charts; and doing reminder calls.
  • Answer phones and field questions about medical issues, identifying visit needs
  • Assist nurses and doctors with basic follow-up tasks such as tracking lab results, prescription authorizations, completing prior auths
  • Be able to handle basic medical office duties as needed in a professional, empathetic, caring demeanor

Qualifications

  • BLS Certification or Certified Medical Assistant desired or previous Medical Assistant experience of 5 or more years.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Based on references a reliable and consistent attendance record
