Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed and dedicated Mental Health Therapist (LMFT or LMHC , LPCC) to deliver therapeutic services within skilled nursing and long-term care settings. This role presents a rewarding opportunity to positively impact individuals dealing with complex emotional, psychological, and cognitive issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions tailored to residents' needs.
- Perform diagnostic assessments, including Alzheimer's screenings, cognitive evaluations, and psychological testing.
- Develop and implement behavior management plans, with strategies for pain management.
- Support residents with emotional adjustment to facility life, including grief and loss.
- Collaborate with facility staff, families, and healthcare providers to create and coordinate comprehensive treatment plans.
- Educate and train facility staff on behavioral health best practices.
- Ensure compliance with facility, state, and federal mental health regulations.
- Emphasize alternatives to psychotropic medications and physical restraints.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
- Active Florida licensure as an LMFT, LPCC, or LMHC.
- Deep understanding of the mental health needs specific to elderly and subacute populations.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities.
- Familiarity with dementia care and behavior management techniques.
