Job Description Restaurant Maintenance Technician Position Summary

The Restaurant Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the restaurant’s facilities, equipment, and systems are well-maintained, safe, and fully operational. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing kitchen equipment, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building needs to minimize downtime and support smooth restaurant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on kitchen appliances, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, electrical systems, and plumbing.

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment breakdowns quickly to minimize disruption to restaurant operations.

  • Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule and keep accurate service records.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building codes.

  • Coordinate with outside vendors when specialized repairs or services are needed.

  • Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment in safe working condition.

  • Respond to urgent maintenance requests in a timely manner.

  • Support restaurant staff with facility-related needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical is a plus.

  • 2+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a restaurant, hospitality, or commercial setting.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Skilled at troubleshooting and problem-solving under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform manual tasks.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced restaurant environment with exposure to heat, refrigeration, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment.

  • Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and emergency call-ins as needed.
