MISSION CONTRIBUTION:
To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the Bargain Barn, security of corporate assets, customer relations, sale of donated goods, accurate cash register operations to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.
SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader Coach and ATL is responsible for customer service, cash register sales, facility security and maintenance, greeting and assisting customers, bagging/wrapping merchandise, displaying merchandise, cleaning cash wrap area, counters, and front of store, hanging, stocking shelves and rotating merchandise. Also, is responsible for providing world-class customer service, maintaining workplace and work area with cleanliness and orderliness, assisting in the stocking of Bargain Barn and rotation when required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures and provides open and honest communication that encourages all team members to not place themselves, donors or customers in harm’s way.
- Communicates and supports Goodwill’s drug-free workplace, strives for and maintains a positive work environment following Goodwill’s Core Values and Guiding Principles.
- Understands, represent Goodwill’s zero tolerance for harassment, substance abuse, workplace violence, failure to report medical incidents (work or non-work related), and theft or other related offenses.
- A cashier is responsible for greeting customers both via phone and in person in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner, aiding customers with the goal of providing 100% customer delight.
- Operates the POS to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and information codes on merchandise.
- Cleans front doors, counters and glass frequently, dust cases, keep front of store clean, return shopping carts and baskets to appropriate areas, return unsold merchandise to proper area.
- Assists with promotions including customer information, postings, special sign displays, etc.
- Ensures that all items are processed accurately and that all saleable merchandise always makes it to the sales floor in a timely manner.
- When applicable, and as assigned, in relation to production numbers, complete breakdown, and maintain rotation to ensure overall movement of goods.
- Supports the stocking and maintenance of the sales floor, and cash/wraps in a neat, always organized, and clean condition.
- Assist in the rotation of merchandise on the sales floor. Places apparel, wares, shoes, accessories, etc., onto sales floor in correct location and rotate merchandise from sales floor as needed.
- Assists with quality and safety control assurance.
- Use of safe work procedures and personal protective equipment as required. (i.e. lifting, use of proper equipment, etc.). Report equipment defects, incidents, injuries or damage in a timely manner to the immediate supervisor.
- Moves material movement equipment in a safe manner in accordance with organizational and safety policies and procedures.
- Adheres to all GGC and personnel policies and procedures; follow good safety practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Team Leader Coach.
- Maintains GGC security, relating to theft or pilferage and handling of cash receipts, according to Agency and GGC policies and procedures.

- Hard goods should be priority processed.
- Material handling equipment is for moving donations, not storage.
- Don’t fall in love with your donations… rotation is critical to success.

- Profits should increase.
- Establishes and maintains a cooperative, functional work relationship with team leader and all team members.
- Follows all Guiding Principles and Core Values.
- May be asked to assist in training new cashiers.
- Attending in-service and related training as assigned by Team Leader Coach.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Team Leader Coach.
- May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments required
- Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer), and adequate distance to guide the parking of vehicles.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team leadership, team members, customers, and clients.
- Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Skill of operation monitoring, watching indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Ability to work under general supervision.
- Prior experience in a retail environment is preferred.
- 6 months of previous cashiering experience
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to stand, bend and reach.
- Able to lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move up to forty (40) pounds with no support regularly. Over forty (40) pounds request for additional team member assistance as needed.

- Change round up as a % of transactions (30% and higher than previous year)
- Accuracy of register input
- Location Ownership – Takes proactive approach to add value (Image/Workstation/Teamwork/Productivity/Communication)
- Work Quantity – Keeps River flowing, consistently meets production count goals (Keeping floor/back room full and fresh as needed)
