Position Purpose

As a role model to team members and as a company representative this team member will consistently interpret, enforce, and communicate company policies and safety regulations to other team members. This person is responsible for identifying deficiencies in training and development and can develop and/or capitalize on available resources to address developmental issues. Ensures that all team members fulfill all requirements to ensure production of defect-free product delivered on time. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and along with colleagues and senior leadership develops and promotes a collaborative work environment ensuring a safe, conforming, and quality product is delivered to our customers.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Coach, mentor, performance management and feedback to frontline team members
  • Effectively communicate operational requirements
  • Manage to KPIs, production forecast and plan
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures
  • Determine and manage staffing requirements based on business demands
  • Collaborate across departments to manage the value stream and execute against plan

  • Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
  • Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
  • Provide leadership through a 30-day planning cycle.
  • Manage across organizational lines to ensure collaboration with internal suppliers and customers.
  • Perform accident investigations.
  • Manage department priorities.
  • Track absenteeism and timekeeping.

Additional Functions

  • Identify Manufacturing Team future training and employee development requirements
  • Support and promote the operating priorities as identified by the leadership team.
  • Leads all aspects of assigned personnel to include hiring, work assignments, workspace and equipment, training, performance appraisals, career development and counseling

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3-5 years of direct supervisory experience in a production environment - Boat/Marine Manufacturing experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, protective suits, dusts masks and respirators.
  • The employee is regularly required to be on their feet; occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Constant use of hands/hand tools for assembly, fine manipulation, inspecting parts, and/or machine operating. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Employees must be able to work a 10-hour shift or more in one workday, including planned and unplanned overtime.
  • Exhibits ability to work cautiously but efficiently in potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud and is non-climate controlled.
