Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and driven Materials Research Engineer with expertise in the synthesis and development of inorganic materials for energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solid-state chemistry, ceramic processing, metal oxides, or other non-organic active materials used in lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion, solid-state, or emerging battery technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and synthesize inorganic materials such as transition metal oxides, sulfides, phosphates, or solid electrolytes for next-generation batteries
  • Develop scalable synthesis routes: sol–gel, hydrothermal, solid-state reaction, co-precipitation, etc.
  • Optimize material morphology, particle size, and phase purity
  • Perform structural, thermal, and electrochemical characterization (XRD, SEM, TGA/DSC, BET, EIS, CV)
  • Work cross-functionally with electrochemistry and engineering teams to evaluate full-cell performance
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and contribute to IP and publications
  • Ensure safe laboratory practices and compliance with environmental and safety standards

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Materials Science, Inorganic Chemistry, Solid-State Chemistry, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in synthesis of inorganic materials for energy storage
  • Strong understanding of crystal chemistry, phase diagrams, and battery material interfaces
  • Hands-on experience with analytical tools: XRD, SEM/EDS, TGA, BET, Raman, XPS
  • Familiarity with battery fabrication and testing is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in solid-state electrolyte synthesis and processing
  • Knowledge of high entropy oxides or defect-engineered materials
  • Familiarity with scale-up and pilot-scale synthesis
  • Prior contributions to patents or peer-reviewed publications
