Massage Therapist
Summary: Administers professional massage and body treatments to our members & guests using various massage modalities and treatment options, while providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Greets all members and guests in a warm, friendly professional manner.
- Provides high-quality, professional massage and body treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
- Performs various massage techniques such as deep tissue, hot stone, prenatal, Swedish, sports massage, and other modalities.
- Customizes massages and body treatments based on members and guests’ needs.
- Works with various aids to complement massage, including application of heat and light, hydrotherapy (water treatment), wet compresses, ice and exercise.
- Maintains education on the latest massage techniques, body treatments and products, and has complete knowledge of all spa service presently offered by the Club.
- Answers guest’s questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
- Assesses contraindications of guest that may prevent service from taking place.
- Generates sales by upselling services, recommending products for home use and booking future appointments.
- Ensures that appointments begin and end according to schedule.
- Creates and maintains client cards with treatment notes when appropriate.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and support training for the department/spa.
- Performs all prep and side work, and properly restocks room(s) as required.
- Informs Spa Director of any member, guest, or facility issues.
- Reports any incidents or accidents to a member of the management team.
- Practices standard massage code of ethics and sanitary procedures at all times.
- Cleans and disinfects all equipment and work areas as directed by law and Club safety standards.
- Adheres to all Club policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State of Florida Massage Therapist License.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to balance; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; kneel; push/pull and lift. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
