HIRING FOR EXPERT LEVEL COLD STORAGE CONTROLS TECHNICAN
TRAVEL- per diem eligible position
Position: Controls Technician
Company: Americold Logistics, LLc
Location: 3800 Hempland Rd, Mountville, Pennsylvania,
17554-1500, United States
Duration: 6 months to 2 year Service Contract
Shift: 3rd shift (Back Half): 7p-7:30a Wed - Sat. Off
every other Wed. Currently working one additional OT day during the week. Will
depend on scheduling and will work with techs to try and make that additional
day work for everyone
Pay: $50/hr
Per
diem: $125/day (provided for all 7x days per week) Per diem
is a non-taxable income meant to pay fr
Responsible for reliable
transportation to the site, travelin and lodging.
Work Environment:
Cold storage warehouse
for grocery stores, i.e. Giant food stores. Employees must wear warm clothing
and will be provided warm suit, gloves, etc. Will sometimes be required to go
into freezer area to troubleshoot and repair automated picking system. Standard
temps in the 30's throughout the warehouse, freezer is around -20 degrees.
Multiple levels throughout the facility and will be required to sometimes work
from heights.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Controls Technician, Automation Technician, or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and programming (Allen‑Bradley preferred).
- Experience with HMIs, VFDs, industrial sensors, and Ethernet/IP or similar networks.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and control circuits.
- Experience in cold‑storage, food distribution, or industrial manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

this role
The Controls Technician
is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the automated
systems that keep our cold‑storage distribution facility running safely and
efficiently.
This role focuses
heavily on PLC‑based controls, industrial automation, and electrical systems
that support refrigeration, material‑handling equipment, and facility
infrastructure.
You’ll work hands‑on in
a fast‑paced environment where uptime is critical, ensuring that all control
systems operate reliably in sub‑zero and refrigerated conditions.
Key
Responsibilities:
Automation
& Controls
Troubleshoot, diagnose,
and repair PLC‑controlled systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Modify, update, and
program PLC logic to support operations and continuous improvement.
Maintain and
troubleshoot HMI systems, VFDs, sensors, and industrial networks.
Perform root‑cause
analysis on recurring automation issues and implement long‑term solutions.
Electrical
& Mechanical
Support Troubleshoot
electrical systems including motors, relays, control panels, and power
distribution.
Support refrigeration
controls (ammonia or Freon systems) and temperature‑monitoring equipment.
Assist with mechanical
troubleshooting on conveyors, palletizers, racking systems, and other automated
equipment.
Preventive
Maintenance & Documentation
Execute preventive and
predictive maintenance tasks on control systems and electrical components.
Maintain accurate
documentation of PLC programs, wiring diagrams, and system configurations.
Update CMMS records for
work orders, parts usage, and equipment history.
Safety
& Compliance
Ensure all work complies
with OSHA, NFPA, and facility safety standards.
Follow proper
lockout/tagout procedures and cold‑storage safety protocols.
Participate in safety
audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance

This is a Contract position based out of Miami, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
