Our colorectal surgery team specializes in advanced, compassionate treatment tailored to each patient’s needs. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgical Scheduler to join our growing practice.


Position Summary:
The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures for the colorectal surgery team. This role serves as the primary liaison between physicians, patients, hospitals, and surgical centers to ensure all aspects of the surgical process are completed efficiently and accurately.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and confirm all surgical procedures for colorectal surgeons.
  • Coordinate surgery dates, times, and locations with patients, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and hospital staff.
  • Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and ensure pre-certifications are completed prior to surgery.
  • Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions, including preparation guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Address patient questions regarding surgical scheduling, insurance, and logistics in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.


Schedule:


8AM-5PM Monday-Friday

Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
  • Previous experience in surgical scheduling, medical office administration, or healthcare coordination required (colorectal or surgical specialty experience a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and prior authorization processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient service.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
