Essential Job Duties:
- Operate sewing machines to handle, position, and move garment materials efficiently through the stitching process.
- Thread machines, change bobbins, and replace needles as needed to maintain workflow.
- Sew various garment components together, including zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, webbing, pockets, openings, and daypacks.
- Perform repairs and rework on non-conforming materials identified during the inspection process.
- Operate a variety of sewing equipment, including Single Needle, Double Needle, Buttonhole Machine, Button Sewing Machine, Bar Tacking Machine, Binding Machine, and Merro Machine.
- Inspect sewing machines regularly to identify defects in stitching or mechanical issues.
- Execute specialized stitching patterns and techniques independently, without supervision.
- Adapt to different departments and support sewing operations wherever needed.
- Review trim sheets and verify that materials are cut to the correct length prior to sewing.
- Identify and document discrepancies in trim sheets, reporting corrections to the project owner.
- Collaborate with project owners and interpret patterns to develop prototypes, even without existing samples.
- Maintain high attention to detail and consistently pursue quality in all tasks.
- Keep work area clean and organized to support safety and efficiency.
- Follow all company safety and quality standards in daily operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production and team goals.
Education & Experience:
- No formal education is required, but candidates must successfully pass a skills assessment.
- Minimum 3 years of sewing experience at Point Blank, with proven ability to independently analyze and construct garment samples — including closures and topstitching.
- Must qualify by passing the Point Blank Level 4 Sewing Test.
- Basic English proficiency required — must be able to read, write, and understand work and safety instructions.
- Basic math skills and ability to operate a calculator.
- Must be able to read and interpret ruler measurements accurately.
- Legal Requirement: Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) to comply with federal contracting regulations. Must be a US person as defined by ITAR.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing detailed, hands-on tasks.
- Frequent reaching, bending, pulling, and occasional lifting of materials up to 15 pounds.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements required for sewing and material handling.
- Good visual acuity and fine motor skills necessary for precision work and equipment operation.
