Licensed Massage Therapist
Provide professional therapeutic massage services to clients to promote relaxation, pain relief, and functional improvement under the standards of the clinic or spa. Deliver safe, client‐centered care while maintaining accurate records and supporting a positive client experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Client care: Perform assessments and deliver massage treatments using Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, and other appropriate modalities.
- Treatment planning: Develop and adjust treatment plans based on client goals, health history, and therapist assessment.
- Documentation: Maintain timely, accurate client records, treatment notes, and consent forms.
- Sanitation: Clean and prepare treatment rooms and equipment; follow infection control and safety protocols.
- Client education: Instruct clients on self‐care, home exercise, and post‐treatment recommendations.
- Scheduling and communication: Manage appointments, follow up on client progress, and coordinate with front‐desk staff.
- Retail and referrals: Recommend products or additional services when appropriate and refer clients to other healthcare providers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- License: Current state license or certification to practice massage therapy.
- Education: Completion of an accredited massage therapy program.
- Certifications: CPR/BLS certification.
- Experience: 1+ years preferred; new graduates considered depending on clinic needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialties: Training or experience in sports massage, prenatal massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, or lymphatic drainage.
- Additional credentials: Orthopedic or medical massage certifications, continuing education in manual therapy techniques.
- Attributes: Strong communication, professionalism, punctuality, and client service orientation.
Skills and Competencies
- Clinical skills: Proficient in multiple massage modalities and client assessment.
- Interpersonal: Empathetic, clear communicator, able to build client rapport and trust.
- Technical: Comfortable with electronic scheduling and documentation systems.
- Physical: Able to perform repeated manual therapy tasks, stand for extended periods, and assist with client positioning and transfers when required.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Spa, clinic, wellness center, or mobile/home settings.
- Schedule: Flexible hours may include evenings and weekends.
- Physical demands: Frequent standing, bending, and use of upper body strength.
