Summary Statement

This is a hands-on working field foreman position. An employee in this position is responsible for leading, training, and directing a crew of construction operators in the performance of various maintenance and repair functions i.e. force mains, valves, gravity mains, laterals, manholes, lift stations, and other structures. Work assignments are received from the construction coordinator in EAM.


Responsibilities

Performs duties as assigned including but not limited to:

· Directs and works with construction crews and manages constructions crew’s daily schedules.

· Repairs broken gravity mains, force mains, service laterals, lift stations, and other structures.

· Repairs sidewalks, pavement, and landscaping when applicable.

· Calls for utility locates when applicable to perform repairs while understanding when locates are required.

· Coordinates jobs with Construction Manager, construction crews, and District inspectors for final signoffs on repairs following the EAM workflow.

· Complete work orders in the field, track progress on EAM, ensures crews are doing the same.

· Works in conjunction with the Construction Manager to perform yearly evaluations on Team members.

· Ability to operate, maintain, and train employees on District equipment.

· Responsible for weekly schedule forecast of construction crew’s upcoming work.

· Responsible for material acquisition for upcoming work.

· Responsible for organizing and staging materials and equipment for upcoming work.

· Provides daily update to work order status’s and daily reports in EAM.

· Understanding job scopes and equipment required in order to eliminate lost productivity.

· Implementation of jobsite safety and crew compliance with District safety policies and procedures.

· Provide daily updates to Director of Engineering regarding job status (when applicable)

· Ensure JHA’s are turned in, complete, for each work order daily.

· Maintains inventory on all non-warehouse stocked materials (i.e rock, road base, confined space equipment, MOT equipment), requests replacements in a timely manner.

Stays current with District’s Manual of Minimum Construction Standards and ensures construction crews are doing the same


Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the repair or construction of wastewater facilities or closely related field
  • One year experience as a lead/foreman or
  • A combination of equivalent training and higher level of education
  • Florida Class “A” Certification in Wastewater Collection Systems (preferred)

· Training and Certifications required or ability to obtain within the first 12 months of employment: MOT, Confined Space, Trench Safety

  • Proven ability to manage a team.
  • Knowledge of practices, materials and tools used in construction and maintenance of system.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in the work.
  • Knowledge of installations.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks independently.
  • Ability to operate a 2 1/2-ton flatbed or dump truck with a five (5) speed manual transmission.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate gasoline and hydraulic power tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a front-end loader/backhoe.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
  • Knowledge of EAM, or work order software.
  • Project Management & Time Management
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Highly organized and methodical approach to daily work
  • Effective computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, EAM or similar software.

· Ethical Conduct at all times

· Pass a pre-employment physical along with a drug test.

· Must possess a valid Florida driver license and acquire a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver License (CDL) within the first year of hire.
