Florida Workers' Compensation Paralegal / Legal Assistant (Remote – Florida)
** Work Remote Optional - Florida Residents ONLY
Overview:
Albert & Mackenzie is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Workers' Compensation Paralegal/Legal Assistant to support our growing Florida practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Florida workers' compensation law, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to manage cases efficiently in a fast-paced, remote legal environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, settlement documents, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
- Collaborate with attorneys to ensure timely and effective case management.
- Receive and transcribe legal dictation of status reports, conference summaries, settlement disbursement reports, etc.
- Proofread and correct prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, syntax, and content.
- Respond to discovery requests, including preparing objections and maintaining electronic records.
- Manage case files: track deadlines, review calendar, create tasks, and coordinate client communications.
- E-file documents through the eJCC portal and assist with trial preparation (exhibit lists, case summaries, etc.).
- Accurately document and bill for all billable work and tasks according with billing procedures.
- Receive and place telephone calls.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in workers' compensation defense.
- Strong knowledge of Florida Workers' Compensation laws and 60Q Rules of Procedure.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat, Kofax); Adobe Acrobat, and Dropbox or other shared cloud storage.
- Experience with eJCC filing system and legal case management software.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fully remote environment.
- Skilled typing ability (minimum 75 WPM) as well as strong writing, proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills..
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-accredited program preferred.
