Education
- B.S. degree, Completion of an education program that meets the standards and is accredited by ACEND through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
Experience / Qualifications
- Registration through the Commission of Dietetic Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Licensed in Florida.
- Prior experience in a clinical health care setting for a minimum of 3 years
- BLS Certified (CPR)
- Expert knowledge of health, nutrition, weight management, physical activity, fitness
- Strong motivational patient interviewing skills
- Proficiency in multiple EMR systems, Microsoft Office: Word, Power Point, Outlook
- Comfortable with using telehealth platforms for patient encounters
- Competency in providing nutrition care for the following patient populations: Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics
- Self-motivated and able to collaborate with Diabetes Registered Nurse (RN) Educator
- Certified Diabetes Educator preferred or willing to obtain certification
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
Position Summary
- Responsible for providing diabetes self-management education through individual counseling and in a group setting.
- Collaborates with Diabetes RN educator and regularly reviews and revises the curriculum for the Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support program to reflect current evidence. In addition, provides Diabetes Education Inpatient consultations when Diabetes RN educator is not available
- Provides medical nutrition therapy that is integrated with the patient’s medical goals and includes assessment of the patient’s nutrition requirements, development of individualized nutrition care plans and goals.
- Evaluates, interprets, monitors and documents the nutritional status and nutritional needs of patients using American Diabetes Association Standards and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) evidence-based guidelines.
- Identifies and provides age-specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural needs of the patients and their families.
- Dietitian is also responsible for comprehensive education of family, staff and community on all nutrition related topics.

Physical Requirements
- Able to perform prolonged sitting for 2 hours or more per day. Able to perform intense keying for up to 2 hours per day. Able to perform intermittent keying for up to 4 hours or more per day. Able to perform phone work and keying or writing simultaneously. Able to grip a Dynamometer with a force > 10 lbs. Able to pinch with a force > 2 lbs. for 10 seconds. Able to reach forward 16-17 inches from the body. Able to bend the torso forward more than 20 degrees and twist sideways. Able to squat. Able to lift/push/pull 20 lbs. Able to carry a 10 lbs. weight over a distance of 25 ft.
Threshold Requirements
- These threshold requirements are required and completed yearly basis
- Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
- TB/PPD Surveillance Program
- Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
