Medical Assistant

Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the physician or nurse with administrative paperwork and/or basic medical tasks with emphasis on customer service satisfaction and capturing the patients HEDIS Measures and Chronic Diagnosis for Medicare Risk Adjustments.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides accurate, complete, legible and timely documentation of all nursing procedures in the medical record.
  • Must exhibit and exercise utmost behavior to provide excellent customer service for patients’ confidentially and privacy protocols in accordance policy and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Candidate shall be able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age-specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group including neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients.
  • Performs vital signs and BMI; informs practitioner of unusual changes.
  • Administers routine immunizations, therapeutic injections, skin tests, treatments and phlebotomy as ordered by practitioner.
  • Orders and maintains current inventories of medication and supplies.
  • Checks for outdated medication on a monthly basis.
  • Assists with emergencies as needed.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of nursing procedures.
  • Follows correct procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous infectious waste.
  • Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance.
  • Complies with all applicable infection control and safety procedures.
  • Uses appropriate reporting mechanisms as required by state laws.
  • Comply with all policies on security and safety; maintain restricted area by safeguarding keyless entries and computer systems.
  • Attend departmental and staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Certified Medical Assistant License
  • 3-years of experience in a medical office or urgent care center as a Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of medical records and inventory management practices
  • Must be able to auscultate blood pressures and hear soft voices
  • Must be able to lift or push up to 25- pounds
  • HIPAA guidelines
  • Basic Computer knowledge
  • Knowledge with experience of HEDIS measures
  • At least two years of college education
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Performance Requirements:

  • Active Certified Medical Assistant license- FL
  • OSHA 10-hour training certification with HIV & Blood borne pathogens
  • Basic Life Support certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
