Bachelor's degree from an ASHA-accredited university, active Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license and minimum 1+ years speech-language pathology experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers a full-year contract opportunity as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) serving a pediatric outpatient school-aged population in Homestead, FL. The role is based in a K-12 school setting, providing therapy primarily to children ages 2 to 18 with mild to moderate speech and language challenges. Most patients are high-functioning on the autism spectrum, and services focus on areas such as pragmatics, receptive and expressive language, reading, writing delays, articulation, and autism-related speech concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one speech therapy sessions, typically seeing one child per hour
- Implement therapeutic strategies tailored to individual needs, including pragmatic language development and articulation
- Document therapy progress and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams as appropriate
- Maintain a calm, supportive environment conducive to child development
- Manage a consistent daily schedule with a one-hour lunch break, ensuring a balanced workload without travel requirements
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or credential as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for school and healthcare settings
- Experience working with pediatric patients in outpatient or school environments preferred
- Knowledge of speech and language disorders including articulation, receptive/expressive language delays, and autism spectrum conditions
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage children and collaborate effectively with staff
- Ability to maintain detailed documentation and meet compliance standards
