CEI - SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER

DISCIPLINE/AREA OF CONCENTRATION:

Construction Management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Construction Engineering and Inspection (CE&I)/Construction Management
  • Extensive Knowledge of FDOT’s Construction Project Administration Manual and other similar requirements for providing services to infrastructure clients
  • Excellent communication skills required to lead, manage motivate and develop business - written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Skilled in the management of staff to accomplish the Company’s mission and achieve good financial performance.
  • Management skills required to lead and direct a team.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to manage multiple professional projects, as well as construction engineering and inspection support staff, inspectors and clients.
  • Able to exhibit a professional demeanor and attitude when interacting with colleagues and clients.
  • Able to make technical decisions related to the office aspects of the project.
  • Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, periodic weekend and night work may be required.


Engineering:

  • Directs highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection programs.
  • Plans and organizes the work of subordinate and staff members.
  • Develops and/or reviews policies, methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Reviews programs for conformance with Department standards.

Project Management:

Responsible for all aspects of the technical quality, management, and profitability of the firm’s contracts under their control. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensures that high quality management, administrative, and technical service is provided by project engineers and project managers and taking action as necessary to maintain the firm’s high reputation for excellent management of projects
  • Ensures that the firm’s policies, systems, and procedures for technical work, management, and administration are implemented.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates technical and administrative assignments with the project team that meet client requirements.

Business Development:

  • Solicits, develops, and maintains clients; establishes the Department’s marketing objectives, directs new business research, develops leads, develops strategy, and qualifies projects.
  • Maintains positive relationships with current and past clients as assigned.
  • Strategizes to decide which opportunities to pursue and the best approach for the pursuit.
  • Performs active marketing of projects including client meetings, proposal preparation and presentations.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of engineering experience, two (2) of which are in major road and bridge construction.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida (or the ability to obtain registration in the State of Florida within six (6) months, if registered in another state,
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT’s) Construction Training Qualification Program (CTQP) required and must be maintained.
