Location: Hybrid, Miami-Dade, Broward

Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, W-2 (15–20 hours per week for the first six months; transitions to Full-Time, thereafter)

Teeny Violini and New Canon Chamber Collective have merged to create a unique, mission-driven arts organization dedicated to expanding access to music education and amplifying diverse voices in the arts.

Teeny Violini is a mobile music education program for preschools and early learning centers that promotes social and emotional wellness through creative expression. The Teeny Violini Curriculum uses the Colorful Violin method, an innovative early learning approach that engages students in music through literacy, shapes, and colors.

New Canon Chamber Collective highlights the work of Black and Brown composers and musicians, reshaping the classical music canon through performance, commissioning, and education. Together, we work to ensure children, families, and communities across South Florida experience the transformative power of music.

Position Overview

The Development Manager will lead the organization’s fundraising and grant development efforts, ensuring the sustainability and expansion of our programs. This individual will be responsible for identifying, researching, and writing grant proposals, cultivating donor and sponsor relationships, and overseeing reporting and stewardship efforts.

The Development Manager will maintain a comprehensive development calendar, manage reporting requirements, represent the organization at networking and advocacy events, and collaborate with leadership and staff to ensure fundraising goals align with program priorities. This role will begin as a part-time position (15–20 hours per week) for the first six months, transitioning into a full-time (35–40 hours per week) role thereafter, with flexibility required for occasional evenings and weekends to support programs and events.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Strategy & Management

  • Identify and research grant opportunities from a variety of sources, including, not limited to, foundations, corporations, and government agencies.

  • Maintain an organized database of opportunities, deadlines, submissions, and outcomes.

  • Develop and manage a strategic grant calendar to ensure timely submissions and reporting.

  • Write and submit compelling proposals, LOIs, and reports on behalf of the organization to secure funding to support programming goals.

  • Collaborate with the administrative team to align proposals with staffing and program needs.

  • Collect and analyze relevant data for applications and funder reporting.

  • Ensure compliance with all funder requirements and deadlines.

Donor Cultivation & Fundraising

  • Work with organization’s leaders to develop a process for identifying, cultivating and stewarding donors

  • Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, sponsors, and community partners on behalf of the organization.

  • Support fundraising campaigns and special events.

  • Represent the organization at networking events, funder briefings, and advocacy convenings.

  • Prepare donor acknowledgment letters, impact reports, and stewardship materials.

  • Lead engaging and innovative funding initiatives for the annual Give Miami Day campaign.

Meetings, Reporting & Advocacy

  • Participate in weekly admin meetings to provide grant and fundraising updates.

  • Meet regularly with the administrative team to align development priorities.

  • Track awarded grants and oversee compliance/reporting.

  • Support board members and leadership with presentations, updates, and fundraising strategies.

  • Collaborate with the Administrative team to develop and update the organizations’ Annual Report as needed.

Professional Development & Networking

  • Stay current on trends in nonprofit fundraising and arts advocacy.

  • Attend professional development opportunities, conferences, and grant-related events.

  • Build long-term relationships with funding organizations and arts networks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field.

  • 2-3 years of experience in grant writing and nonprofit development (arts experience strongly preferred).

  • Proven track record of securing grant funding and cultivating donors.

  • Strong research and storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Comfort with donor engagement, public speaking, and representing the organization externally.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and grant management tools.

  • Flexibility to work after regular office hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support programs and events.

Working Conditions

This position begins as part-time and transitions into full-time after six months. Work is based in South Florida and includes a mix of office, remote, and community-based activities. General hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm, with flexibility required for occasional evenings and weekends to support programs and events. Local travel across Liberty City, Overtown, North Miami, Miami Gardens, South Broward, and South Dade is expected; reliable transportation and proof of insurance is required.
