A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SERVICE PLUMBER
A Lift Station Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing lift stations to ensure proper wastewater flow, including diagnosing and performing repairs on pumps, motors, valves, and control systems. Daily duties include responding to service calls, conducting preventative maintenance, clearing blockages, replacing worn or damaged parts, testing floats and alarms, and troubleshooting electrical panels. The tech must be skilled in both mechanical and electrical repairs, able to work in confined spaces and outdoor environments, and keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PLUMBING SERVICE TECHNICIAN
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, or wastewater systems preferred
- 1–3 years of experience working with pumps, motors, and control systems (lift station experience strongly preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Customer service skills
- Ability and willingness to be on call and work flexible hours as needed
