The Painting Estimator / Project Manager is a hybrid role responsible for accurately estimating painting projects, coordinating resources, managing schedules, and ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and within budget. This position is client-facing and requires strong organizational skills, construction knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating:
- Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for painting projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotes.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and scope to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to develop competitive bids that align with company margins and standards.
- Maintain an organized database of historical costs, unit pricing, and vendor information for future estimates.
Project Management:
- Oversee painting projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring quality, safety, and timeline compliance.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Monitor budgets and track project costs, addressing any variances proactively.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure adherence to specifications and safety standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates, resolving issues, and maintaining positive relationships.
Compliance & Safety:
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations on all job sites.
- Ensure all permits, documentation, and inspections are completed accurately and on time.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement among project teams.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction estimating and project management, preferably in painting or coatings.
- Strong knowledge of painting materials, methods, and construction processes.
- Proficient in project management and estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, or equivalent).
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities with experience managing crews and subcontractors.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- OSHA 10/30 Certification or equivalent safety training.
- Experience working in multi-site projects and managing multiple simultaneous projects.
