ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders. PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

About the Role:
As a Peer Recovery Coach, you will use your own lived experience in recovery to support individuals with substance use or co-occurring mental health challenges. Based in the hospital emergency department, you will engage with patients following overdose or substance-related health crises, helping them begin treatment and sustain recovery.
- Links individuals with Substance Use Disorder, substance use/opioid-related overdose survivors, and those with health-related issues due to substance use to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), detox, and various inpatient and outpatient programs.
- Uses time spent communicating with those in the hospital/community to assist in initiating treatment and engage patients in on-going treatment and recovery support.
- Provides educational resources, community resources and support to participants and their friends, family, and caregivers regarding overdose prevention, treatment for substance use disorder, and recovery support.
- Provides triage, screening and evaluation services to determine appropriate level of care. Is responsible for timely, professional documentation and data collection according to Operation PAR standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's degree required
- Bachelor’s Level preferred
- One year of experience working in the field of behavioral health preferred
- Strong communication skills, ability to engage individuals in crisis, and comfort working in a hospital setting
- Tech savvy — able to use Excel, EHR, and other documentation systems
- Adaptable, diplomatic, and able to work effectively with medical staff and individuals who may be resistant or difficult to engage
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS:
- Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) - full or provisional certification required within 6 months of hire
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must pass a level II background check and drug screen
