Job Summary:
The Medication Technician is responsible for administering medications and assisting residents with their healthcare needs in a senior living community.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Administers prescribed medications to residents in accordance with physician instructions and facility protocols.
- Monitors residents for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications and reports findings to the nurse or supervisor.
- Assists residents with personal care tasks, including hygiene, grooming, and daily living activities, as needed.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of medication administration, observations, and resident care in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepares and organizes medication carts, ensuring proper storage and labeling of medications.
- Assists in taking and recording vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, and reports any irregularities to the appropriate staff.
- Provides emotional support to residents and fosters a caring and positive environment.
- Communicates effectively with residents, families, and team members to address healthcare concerns and ensure quality care.
- Participates in training and orientation for new employees and contributes to maintaining a collaborative team atmosphere.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Successful completion of a state-approved medication technician training program.
- Previous experience in a senior living or healthcare setting preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina.
