Quality Engineer – Automotive Manufacturing
Overview:
VIP Executive Search is conducting a confidential search for a Quality Engineer with proven experience in automotive manufacturing and injection molding. The ideal candidate will be bilingual (English/Spanish) and highly skilled in structured problem-solving, utilizing tools such as 8D, 3-Legged 5 Why’s, and Ishikawa diagrams. This role is hands-on and critical for driving quality, process improvements, and operational excellence within a fast-paced production environment. Relocation assistance may be offered for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures customers’ quality requirements are met with assigned products, programs, areas, and functions.
- Plan, direct, coordinate, participate in any/all the following:
APQP/ Advanced Product Quality Planning
PPAP / Production Part Approval Process
8d / Eight Discipline problem solving
SPC / Statistical Process Control
- Participating in Control Plan Development.
- General understanding of IATF16949 activities
- Assist in internal Quality training efforts.
- Participate in Six - Sigma/Continuous Improvements efforts.
- Internal Auditor
- Identifies and reports quality problems or trends.
- Recommends and coordinates appropriate corrective action to quality problems.
- Follows all Occupational Safety and Health Policies and Procedures. Reports safety deficiency to immediate supervisor.
- Understands and complies with all Departmental Quality Policies and Procedures.
- Lead quality initiatives to ensure products meet safety, quality, and customer requirements.
- Utilize structured problem-solving tools, including 8D, 3-Legged 5 Why’s, and Ishikawa/Fishbone Diagrams, to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve process issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Mentor production staff on quality standards and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and customer specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or five years QE experience), plus 3 years in automotive experience.
- Strong analytical and proven team-oriented problem solving-skills required
- Solid blueprint reading skills including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), inspection layout skills and Statistical skills
- Solid leadership, self-motivation and participative team skills are essential
- Effective training skills required
- Solid computer skills
- Ability to interpret customer quality requirements. Strong customer satisfaction orientation
- Automotive manufacturing experience (required)
- Injection molding experience (required)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
- Strong problem-solving skills using 8D, 3-Legged 5 Why’s, and Ishikawa diagrams
- Excellent communication skills with ability to influence across all levels of the organization
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, and highly organized
