Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Well-versed in Family Law court procedures, including managing discovery requests, mandatory disclosures, financial affidavits, and motions.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of Family Law experience.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple complex cases simultaneously.
- Detailed oriented, ability to work well and independently well with strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable with profiling documents in Document Management systems (CLIO, NetDocs)
- Excellent communication skills among team members, Court staff and high-valued clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, proofread, and finalize legal documents including, Petitions, responses, declarations, discovery, disclosures, and pre-trial statements, as well as Marital settlement agreements, custody and visitation agreements, and restraining orders.
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests (form interrogatories, special interrogatories, document requests, etc.). File documents with court systems (electronic and in-person filings), ensuring compliance with jurisdictional rules and deadlines.
Client & Case Support:
- Conduct client intake interviews and gather initial case data and documentation.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case status, court dates, required documents, and next steps.
- Assist clients in completing financial disclosure forms, income and expense declarations, and custody-related documents.
Legal Research & Investigation:
- Research statutes, case law, court rules, and local procedures as needed for attorney review. Investigate and summarize facts related to asset discovery, child support calculations, and case timelines.
Case & Trial Preparation:
- Organize and manage case files, discovery binders, and exhibits. Prepare trial notebooks, witness lists, and timelines, coordinate with expert witnesses if necessary.
- Attend court hearings and trials with attorneys as needed to provide support.
Administrative & Billing Duties:
- Track case deadlines, hearing dates, and filing deadlines using case management software.
- Record billable time accurately for paralegal work and ensure billing compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of family law paralegal experience in a law firm or legal department.
- Proficiency in legal practice management software and Microsoft Office
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Office onsite with potential remote/hybrid flexibility as per Firm Policy.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $75k - $87k annually, depending on experience and location.
