Overview:
Lead a dynamic department overseeing building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing inspections and code enforcement. Ensure construction activities meet Florida Building Code standards while managing a skilled team and delivering exceptional public service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all department operations, plans review, and inspection activities
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building regulations
- Lead and develop staff, manage scheduling, and perform evaluations
- Approve permits, certificates, and enforcement actions
- Communicate with officials, contractors, and the public
- Prepare reports, budgets, and code amendments
- Represent the department at meetings and emergency operations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of progressively responsible management experience in construction or a municipal agency
- Florida Building Code Administrator license
- Valid Florida driver’s license (or ability to obtain by hire date)
