PAY RATE: $26-29/hour

Job Type: Contract (12 months with potential for extension)

Shift: 4/10 – Second Shift (Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM EST). Candidates must remain on 2nd shift; no 1st shift option available.

Summary:
-
Perform high-mix, low-volume assembly and inspection of solder joints on SMT and through-hole components on complex PCBs.
-
Remove, replace, and repair bottom-terminated components (QFNs, BGAs, LGAs) using hot-air pencils, hot plates, and other rework tools.

Execute precise reflow, pre-heat, and cooling cycles according to component-specific thermal profiles.

Operate and maintain X-ray inspection equipment to evaluate hidden solder joints and verify rework quality.

Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and BOMs to ensure accurate component placement and orientation.

Conduct in-process quality checks (visual, AOI, X-ray) and document results in compliance with quality systems.

Troubleshoot solder-related defects (e.g., tombstoning, voids, bridges) and implement corrective actions.

Maintain ESD-controlled environments and adhere to all safety and compliance procedures.

Support continuous improvement initiatives, recommending tooling upgrades or process optimizations.

Follow IPC (610/620/7711), ISO-9001, and AS9100 standards applicable to defense/aerospace quality systems.
Requirements:

High school diploma or GED
-
6+ years of soldering experience on SMT and through-hole components.

Proficiency with IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD, and IPC-WHMA-A-620 standards.

Hands-on experience with bottom-terminated components and rework processes.

Strong attention to detail and quality, with experience in X-ray inspection.

Familiarity with aerospace or defense quality systems preferred.

Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
